What we believe

Westview is one congregation in a denomination called the Christian Reformed Church in North America.

The name CHRISTIAN means that we believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for our sins. He is our Savior and our Lord. We show our love and commitment to Him in worship and in service.

REFORMED means we have roots in the historic part of the Christian church stemming from the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s. We emphasize that the Bible, as God's Word, is our only reliable source of authority. We also believe we are saved through God's grace and not by our own efforts.

We call ourselves a CHURCH because as God's people we need each other for friendship, support, and help with understanding the Bible and growing spiritually. We see ourselves as a part of God's growing family.

Finally, while NORTH AMERICA is part of our official name, the "CRC" is a global denomination. We began nearly 200 years ago when Dutch immigrants came to North America. But today our nearly 1,000 churches and about 280,000 members in the United States and Canada include people from Hispanic, Asian, African and other ethnic origins. CRC agencies are also working to preach the Gospel and to relieve human suffering in more than 25 countries around the world.

 Westview's Mission

Westview Christian Reformed Church is a body of believers whose purpose is to glorify God:
*by living holy and obedient lives as directed by God's holy and infallible Word
*by equipping members to minister to others in the name of Christ,
*by bringing others to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

Statement of Beliefs

The beliefs and doctrine of the Christian Reformed Church are based on the Holy Bible, God's infallible written Word contained in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that it was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.
